Enjoying the holidays and the sun

During holidays, many families share beautiful moments outdoors, Therefore it is important to take care our skin in the best way. For this we share with all, some of the tips that Dr. Laura reminds us Solalinde.

To avoid suffering the harmful effects of solar radiation. We must follow the following tips :

• Avoid sun exposure between 10 and 16 hrs, when the rays fall vertically and are more dangerous, as well as avoid surfaces that reflect light. Do not forget that water, sand and snow reflect UV rays by over 80%.

• Do not expose to sun little kids under six months old, or apply sunscreen on their skin, since it is very sensitive and do not yet secrete melanin. Furthermore dehydrate very easily.

• We should also be protected on cloudy days because the rays pass through the clouds.

• Being in the water does not protect against solar radiation. Water removes the sensation of heat, so that exposure is typically longer, but does not filter UV rays, so you should not neglect protection.

• Use appropriate safety glasses, because the UV radiation can also damage the cornea and cause cataracts.

• Apply sunscreen with SPF (sun protection factor) 25 or higher on all dry and un protected skin thirty minutes before exposure and reapply at least every two hours.

• A protection factor of 25 is sufficient for children with dark skin and over 30 for very blond and white children.

Be sure to drink plenty of water and consult a dermatologist in case a new lesion that will not heal appears, or if you notice changes in a mole.
