It should be noted that in both cycles, English is a language to be learned and to be used as language of instruction for the transfer of knowledge in content areas such as Technology, Counseling, Science, Health, Arts, and Social Studies.
Elementary and Middle School
In grades 1st through 3rd (First Cycle), students continue with the process of acquisition of the English language within a partial immersion context. In the process of assimilation of the foundational structures of the languages, great emphasis is placed on reading and listening skills, to develop student´s comprehension skills until they reach a high proficiency level in the development of their phonological awareness.
In the 4th, 5th, and 6th Grades (Second Cycle), there is a greater emphasis on oral and written production and an increase in formal and explicit learning elements. Exercises are more complex in the language areas.

In grades 7th through 9th (Third Cycle), the fluency increases in all areas of communication and the grammatical component is intensified in all subjects developed in English: Music, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Public Speaking, to consolidate the formal aspects of oral and written productions.
