SIL Debate Club wins in ASA Tournament

It is with great pride that we share all the awards obtained by our students of Debate Club of SIL, in the Debate Tournament of the ASA, in which they obtained the first position in the Categories Expert Team and Novice Team. Our students met the challenge of students of the SEK School , Colegio del Sol, Liceo Francés, Faith Christian School, among others.

The winning students in the Expert Category in English were: María Paz Salinas, Emilia Machado, Nicolás Real and Gonzalo Irún. And in the Novice Category: Constanza Irún, Andrea Maidana, Andrés Riera and Malia Bareiro.

The Resolution of the Debate was: “Western nations have a moral responsibility to accept Middle-Eastern refugees and provide for their needs indefinitely” Both teams had to defend both positions, in favor of or against receiving the refugees.

Our students stood out, supporting their arguments correctly and received congratulations for the correct use of body language, by the calmness and fortitude that they demonstrated at every moment.

Many congratulations to all of them, and in a very special way to the tutor of the Club, Professor Yolima Rey and Professor Malcolm Shelley, who accompanied the students at every moment. Congratulations team SIL!
